Jacques Tourneur (1904-1977) was one of the great artists of cinema. He was a journeyman director, working the film projects he was assigned, yet there's a quiet, subdued, shadowy horror to everything he touches, linking the famous films like Cat People, I Walked With a Zombie, and Night of the Demon to the more obscure gems like Berlin Express, Great Day in the Morning, and Appointment in Honduras.

After falling deeper & deeper into the Tourneur catalogue I became obsessed with this intangible unifying touch he brought to seemingly totally unrelated films & genres. This album grew out of that obsession.
